Hands-On Introduction to Generative AI for Toy Design
Imagine, design, and bring your ideas to life in this hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop! You’ll explore the fundamentals of using generative AI as a creative design tool, learning how to write effective prompts, develop original toy concepts, and refine your ideas through iteration. Students will consider key elements of toy design, including form, function, materials, and playability, while learning how to thoughtfully incorporate AI into the creative process. By the end of the workshop, you’ll develop a unique toy concept of your own and gain practical experience using AI to turn an idea into a design.

Please note: This is Part 1 of a two-part workshop series. Using AI for Toy Package Design—Part 2—will be held in the Vitale Digital Media Lab on November 10. We encourage you to register for both sessions. In Part 2, you’ll create the toy packaging for the design from this workshop.

Learning Outcome: By the end of this workshop, students will be able to use generative AI tools to develop and refine an original 3D toy concept, evaluate and iterate on AI-generated designs, and prepare a printable 3D model while demonstrating creative problem-solving, basic principles of 3D design, and responsible use of AI in the design process.
