Hands-On Introduction to the Vinyl Cutter

Students will learn how to create clean, accurate vector designs and safely operate a vinyl cutter to transform digital artwork into physical products such as stickers, labels, or decals. Through hands-on practice with professional tools and software, students will build foundational design and digital fabrication skills while gaining confidence in turning ideas into finished, real-world products.

Learning Outcome: By the end of this workshop, students will be able to prepare and output vector designs using a vinyl cutter to produce custom stickers and decals, demonstrating proper machine setup, material selection, weeding and transfer techniques, and safe operation while applying digital fabrication workflows to create professional-quality finished products.

Please note: This is Part 2 of a two-part workshop series. Introduction to Illustrator for Vector Design—Part 1—will be held in the Vitale Digital Media Lab on October 27. We encourage you to register for both sessions.
