Explore the podcasting equipment available in the Vitale Media Lab, including microphones, recording equipment, and other tools you can use to create your own audio projects. Staff will be available to answer questions about the equipment, demonstrate how it works, and help you learn how to reserve and access the space and equipment for class projects or personal creative work.
We’ll also explore a “new school” approach to podcasting with AI. Bring your study notes and learn how AI tools can help transform your notes into a podcast-style conversation or audio study resource. This can be a creative way to review course material, hear concepts explained in a different format, and experiment with new approaches to studying and learning.
WIC will provide a supportive space to ask questions, experiment with podcasting tools, work on projects, and explore new ways to engage with course materials.
Drop in for as much or as little of the session as you'd like. Light snacks will be provided!
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the session, students will be able to:
- Identify podcasting hardware and software available through the Vitale Media Lab and understand how these tools can support academic and creative projects.
- Explore the basic functions of podcasting equipment, including microphones, recording equipment, and related media tools.
- Navigate the process for reserving and accessing podcasting equipment and spaces in the Vitale Media Lab.
- Apply basic podcasting concepts to academic, creative, or project-based work.
- Explore how AI tools can transform existing study notes into a podcast-style learning resource.
- Develop strategies for using audio and podcasting as an alternative way to review, organize, and engage with course content.
- Compare traditional podcast production approaches with newer AI-assisted approaches and consider the strengths and limitations of each.
- Identify campus spaces, equipment, and resources available to support future podcasting, media, and audio projects.
