When you reserve a carrel, you get to keep it for the whole year! Keep your books all in one place and study in your designated spot whenever the library is open. You can even have requested materials sent directly to your carrel.
Penn students may only reserve one carrel at a time across the entire Penn Libraries system.

All Penn students can reserve carrels in Van Pelt Library for the full academic year and may renew their reservation for the summer. Reservations typically open in mid-September and new reservations can be made until the following May.
Current Penn students and researchers can reserve carrels and shelves in the Penn Museum Library for the full academic year. Priority is given to senior majors in Anthropology and graduate students in the School of Arts and Sciences.
Students in Weitzman School of Design and History of Art programs are eligible to apply for a carrel. Due to the limited number of carrels, graduate students in a PhD program or last year of Master’s study are given priority. Students at other points in these programs and seniors in the History of Art program embarking on their thesis will be placed on a wait list.
Current Penn students and researchers can reserve carrels in the Albrecht Music Library for the full academic year. Priority is given to music students.
