The Penn Libraries AI Studio offers opportunities for students to use AI, learn how it works, and consider how it is shaping research, learning, and society. Through practical workshops and interdisciplinary perspectives, the Studio helps students develop the skills and critical judgment to use AI thoughtfully and effectively.
Curious about machine learning but unsure where to begin? This workshop provides a basic introduction to how machines learn from data.
Learn to build and run open-source AI models locally on everyday hardware while exploring AI infrastructure, privacy, and ethics.
Engage in hands-on games and activities developed by participants to explore alternative pedagogical approaches to understanding generative AI tools, and their socio-technical considerations.
Examine representations of automata, mechanical devices, computational objects, humanoid robotic sentience, cryptography, and more, in relation to gender, labor, multilingualism, and environmentalism.
Explore practical uses of AI to develop in-class activities, design assignments, and transform course notes into study aids.
A beginner-friendly, hands-on workshop where students use generative AI to develop and refine original toy concepts while learning effective prompting, design fundamentals, and creative problem-solving.
Learn how to use AI coding tools to go from an idea to a working-ish project in one afternoon.
Use AI to turn your ideas and projects into portfolio-ready visuals. Explore prompting, visual storytelling, and creative ways to present your work and stand out—no design or AI experience required.
A beginner-friendly, hands-on workshop where students use Adobe Firefly, ChatGPT, and Photoshop to design, prepare, print, and assemble custom product packaging for a mini toy.
Learn how AI agents can be set up to plan tasks, use tools, and carry out a series of steps toward a goal.
Learn how to make informed choices about AI models and platforms and match AI tools to different tasks.
Make an appointment to get one-on-one assistance with AI-related questions at office hours hosted by library staff.
AI Consultation Desk office hours are offered by the Research Data & Digital Scholarship team to help members of the Penn community explore how artificial intelligence, machine learning, and automation might support their work.
Jaj Karajgikar, Applied Data Science Librarian, can help you brainstorm, troubleshoot, and help facilitate computational research projects, especially ones which are multilingual and multidisciplinary.
